How cute is the name of this company?! =) Ticklebug Baby makes THE best portable changing kit on the market. I looooove this product and I think it's a must-have for all moms!

We first used this one on our trip to DC. I didn't want to be hauling a huge diaper bag around with us; it was hot, the bag would be a pain to carry around, and my poor husband would've ended up schlepping it everywhere we went. And since he was the designated baby schlepper, that wouldn't have worked... ;-P

I was so thrilled to have the Ticklebug pack to tote around. The one we have is 12x11" when it's closed and folded flat, and about two inches thick, so it was super compact to carry around (that's the larger size; there's also a 9x11" version). I'd tell you my favorite feature, but I can't pick one. I love everything about it!

First, this has everything you need for changing your kiddo. It unfolds into a padded changing mat, and get this: it's actually big enough that the baby isn't touching anything nasty! Arms, legs, head - everything fits! That's a beautiful thing. (I'm a little grossed out by public changing tables, can ya tell?!). Oh, and the changing pad is water-resistant (read: pee resistant), so it won't soak up anything junior depsosits on it.

There are elastic bands to hold a wipes case (which means you can use whatever brand of wipes you want, which a lot of changing products don't offer). Since the baby is on the changing pad, you have weight holding down the mat to provide resistance when you grab for a wipe. You know, as opposed to grabbing the wipe, tugging, then flailing the case around until you're left holding the wipe and the case has flown a few feet away. Nice!

You can tell that moms (a mother/daughter team, actually) designed this product. It's in the little details, like the way they suggest adding some of those little plastic rings to one of the straps. Voila, baby is entertained and you didn't have to pack a separate bag! I love that.

While the wipes are on the left side, the right side has a few pockets. The big one is for the diapers, and there are a couple smaller ones that would hold whatever other gear you might need (diaper cream, mom's sunglasses, whatever!). It's also got a pocket on the outside, sewn across the back of the pack. That means it's about 12x11" - big enough to hold quite a bit.

In our case, the outside pocket served us SO well! I tossed my shades, my camera, my flip video camera, and a map in that pocket. It was right across the handle of the stroller, so I could grab my camera anytime I wanted to snap a pic, and it was right there. When I wasn't using it, it was still right at my fingertips. I got so many more photos on this trip using the Ticklebug, than I would have without using it - it's really that convenient!

The padding is cushy enough that I could change Lovie pretty much anywhere. And we did. The grass in front of the American History Museum? The Ticklebug's been there. A random bench on the sidewalk? Yep, there too. Protecting her from the nastiness of a foldout changing table? Definitely there. You get the idea: it goes absolutely everywhere and makes life immensely easier.

We were able to pack three or four of her size three disposables in the diaper pocket. Of course, you'd be able to fit about twice that in a size newborn. I could pack it in the morning and just take this out with us. While it seemed dangerous at first, it was really all we needed in the diapering department. That's awesome! And not just for travelling (though I wouldn't recommend travelling without it, it's that great). It's so nice to dash to the store or out for dinner and take the Ticklebug.

It's got a brilliant set of straps on it, too. These make it incredibly versatile. There are two straps, one sewn into each side. They've each got velcro on them, so you can make two loops (to strap it to the handles of a stroller, for instance), or you can connect them to make one shoulder strap. Again: the details in this design really show that it's mom-designed! It's also made in the USA, which is just the cherry on the ice cream for me. =) Oh, and they also make a larger version for special needs kids, something unique to the market and much-needed. I love that they're really working to accomodate all moms!"
